We create the world of technologies

Discover your opportunity

Push the boundaries of what's possible with us

You can find technical engineers in technical development, logistics and production. Because in all of these areas, technical and organizational challenges await them.

"I’m glad that my work consists of many different activities. At Škoda, I work independently and in team, at the computer as well as in the field."

Filip Sklenárik High-voltage battery systems specialist and regulatory expert

Join our team

Be the heart and mind behind every Škoda model that comes off the production line, and join us in shaping the future of the automotive industry.

What does a Technical Engineer do?

Imagine a car just got off the assembly line, made from components you helped create. It’s a priceless feeling! Become a development engineer and shape our vehicles, from headlights and radiators to chassis and wheels. Or would you prefer to improve the assembly line, plan manufacturing, and streamline automation or logistics? You can also explore the possibilities of Industry 4.0 with us. The entire Volkswagen Group will be by your side – a car is a team project that’s a joy to create.

What abilities should you have?

Reliability, attention to detail, precision, communication, and organizational talent. These are the key skills no technician can do without – after all, the entire production process depends on them. The result of your precise work? Vehicles that will carry your personal touch.

Technical Development

From the first sketch to the final tests. That’s how we would summarize the work of technical development, which plays a crucial role in the creation of every new Škoda Auto model.

At the heart of the department are teams of passionate professionals dedicated to each phase of vehicle development. Whether it’s the initial brief, planning, design, concept development, or the final crash tests and various trials, we always use the most advanced methods and technologies.

Engineering

This department is responsible for ensuring the smooth production of every vehicle. It all starts with the logistics of materials, parts, and components and ends with their assembly. But that’s not all. We design and implement new technologies to bring vehicle electronics to life, transfer insights from extensive analyses into car assembly, or even into a new paint shop. We pride ourselves on using the best technologies and continuously create new positions that cover a wide range of opportunities across various fields.

Production

Production is one of the key departments at Škoda Auto. Without it, none of our models would come to life – whether it’s the electric ENYAQ, the new OCTAVIA, or the KAROQ SUV.

Škoda's modern production plants are not only in Mladá Boleslav but also in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí. Each factory provides a clean and highly modern environment, where automation is seamlessly combined with the precise work of our employees. Our people are always our top priority, and while we use many automated machines in production, the human element remains the most important.

Stories from the world of technology

We are slowly approaching the limits of aerodynamics

At first glance, you might completely overlook them, but they play a crucial role in any car. Aerodynamic features ensure that air flows "smoothly" both around and through the vehicle. The less resistance the car encounters while driving, the less fuel or energy it needs – and the farther it can travel. "Thanks to good aerodynamics, drivers don't need to refuel or recharge their cars so often. However, we are slowly approaching the maximum we can achieve in external aerodynamics while maintaining a reasonable degree of design differentiation and customer comfort," explain Václav Ptáček and Michaela Mračnová, development engineers in external aerodynamics, who are so passionate about this turbulent field that they devote even some of their free time to it.

I would definitely let a machine drive my car

Pavel Barcal works at Škoda Auto as an innovation manager for vehicle electrics – he leads a team of visionaries who come up with innovations on daily bases. These innovations are then implemented into cars across the Volkswagen Group. How many ideas originating in his department actually make it into the production cars? And how does his department collaborate with the University of Ostrava?

From Prague to Boleslav on a bike

When he finished his studies and was looking for a job, he came up with a few essential requirements. He wanted a career in development and a position where he would work not only independently, but also in regular contact with people. He also hoped for a change of environment and wanted to move from his native country, Slovakia. At Škoda, Filip Sklenárik found a job that met all his needs. What does he do as a specialist on high voltage battery systems and regulations? And why does he believe in the importance of cooperation between companies and universities?
